In the new year my girlfriend Annabel and I are off to Mallorca for 5 ½ weeks which will be a welcome break from the U.K. winter and for us both to get some solid kilometres in, and a chance to lose that 2kg. Mallorca is one of my favourite places to cycle, I’ve been there many times and I like how you really get to know the place, it’s like unlocking different parts of the map on Grand Theft Auto. So I’m looking forward to exploring the island a bit more and showing Annabel some real “climbs”, once we return Kidd’s Hill (an infamous mile long climb in Ashdown Forest colloquially known as The Wall) is going to seem like nothing after I’ve taken her up Puig Major a few times…

I’ll be looking to build some real fitness ahead of my first race of the year in February – the first edition of the self supported Atlas Mountains Race in Morocco. I’ll be asking Claire for some insider info and tips.
