I’ll be riding from Marrakesh through the Atlas Mountains and down to Agadir, roughly following the route of the upcoming Atlas Mountain Race in February. The route is amix of road, gravel and some hike-a-bike, around 1000km long with nearly 15,000m of climbing. With temperatures dropping below zero at night it’s not your classic Winter Sun break but will be an amazing experience and my first visit to Africa.
My plan for 2020 is lots more fun on bikes, a little bit of racing but mostly just exploring. In the diary so far…
The inaugural edition of Badlands, a 700km self-supported gravel bikepacking race around the Iberia region of Spain.
Frontier 300, a mixed terrain coast to coast along the Scottish/English border.
Returning to Finland with RPM90 for a more comfortable version of bikepacking, with saunas, hot tubs and comfy beds.
A trip to the Swedish island of Gotland for further long summer days of Scandinavian gravel.
There are lots of other ideas too… Montenegro, the Dolomites, the Pyrenees, Veneto trail, Tuscany trail, the Scottish islands….
I’d also like to help get more women involved in adventure cycling and bikepacking, maybe starting with some local weekenders right here in Sussex.
